Mama-ish

Mama…that endearment for the woman who gave us unconditional love. And it’s such an innocent slang; I imagine a little one tugging on a shirt tail. I am Mama-ish.

Ever since my first daughter, Alba Rain, was born, it’s been a balancing act to be everything I could for her while simultaneously finding out who this new version of me was. And if I’m being honest, I didn’t immediately accept this new version of me, so I spent time meeting and learning how to love her.

Fast-forward another daughter, River Lane, who is now 4, I am still finding and meeting new versions of me, and I can sincerely say that I love these new and evolving identities. I embrace the chaos that is my home and my family. But I think a lot of that is because I found out how to love this new and different me and find out how to create that time for myself again. So much so, that a past version of me who promised I wouldn’t have a third child, has evolved to, well…4 months happily pregnant with our third.

So what is Mama-ish, and what’s in it for you?

It’s the breath of our stories. The stories of motherhood. The stories of womanhood. It’s the beginning, the in-between, and what’s to come. The stories of trial and error. The stories of finding, meeting, and loving our evolving identities.

The “-ish” represents women, all women, what we represent before, with, without, or after babes.

My hope for Mama-ish is to offer a community of stories where you feel seen, where you feel inspired, where you feel beautiful and confident, both in your best and raw moments. I will share stories of family, home and lifestyle, fashion and beauty, pregnancy and birth, some of my own words and poetry, and of course, all things Mama.
